We are a group of mainly US citizens living principally in the Paris area. In October 2002, we were shocked and alarmed to realize that the US government was planning to wage a brutal war against Iraq in defiance of world opinion and the UN charter -- a war that it tried to justify by lies and insinuations about a direct threat to US security, but whose true motives had to do with power and gain. We wanted French people and others to know that not all Americans approved of the Bush administration’s belligerent foreign policy. We grew by word of mouth, taking part in the Paris antiwar demonstrations with our own banners from October through May 1st 2003.
